If you thought the first day records were impressive for COD: Modern Warfare 2 you would be correct. I got in the five day sales figures and it’s staggering with 550 million in sales. The record sales total is mind blowing throw in the fact 11 million achievements were earned in the game on Xbox Live in the same 5 day period and it shows just how popular the game is. The record broke suck Blockbuster openings as The Dark Knight, Harry Potter and Spiderman. COD: MW 2 also broke the old video game sales record of 316 million set by Grand Theft Auto IV.

Tropico 3 the politically charged strategy Sim from Kalypso Media released a playable demo on XBL Marketplace for Gold members and on November 25th for Silver members. The game allows players to play as the newly elected El Presidente of the Island of Tropico. The demo will have to missions and sounds interesting so check it out.

For fans of the Tony Hawk games Activision’s Tony Hawk: Ride will take gamers beyond the standard controller. The game comes with its own Skateboard controller offering a new experience for skateboard fans. Tony Hawk: Ride allows gamers to make the moves on the specially designed deck and the game will respond to those movements. The game is now in stores and comes with the special deck controller and game for $119.99.

Last year Valve released Left 4 Dead and the game became a great Co-Op game and a personal favorite. Today the sequel Left 4 Dead 2 hits stores exclusively for the Xbox 360 and PC. The game has new modes including Scavenger new avatar awards and all new weather effects. Left 4 Dead 2 also offers gamers new game modes including the Scavenger mode. With a new cast of characters, melee weapons and Avatar rewards the game is loaded with new things.

Ubisoft’s sequel Assassin’s Creed II is now in stores everywhere. The sequel to last year’s hit is generating a lot of buzz for its new gameplay and graphics. Those who pick up the game will also notice new avatar rewards you can unlock. It’s another big week for releases as we approach the Holidays.

While Activision and Infinity Ward are celebrating record sales for COD: Modern Warfare 2. It seems Russia is upset about the much talked about Airport level. They also think the game shows a total disrespect for all Russians. They have banned the game and recalled all copies. Infinity Ward has offered to offer a patch that would eliminate that mission Russia is still not happy. Even the gamers in Russia are complaining about the way their fellow countrymen are betrayed in the blockbuster game. While I will admit the Airport scene is a bit disturbing surely Russia and gamers there knew the story line. Asking for the scene to be patched is reasonable but banning the game is a bit much. It’s not like the first MW was any easier on the story line. Have a comment about this please post it.
