In slightly shocking news from Nintendo, it looks like the father of Mario and Zelda , Shigeru Miyamoto, will not be taking the stage at the company’s E3 press conference in LA next week, kickstarting rumours that a new Super Mario game could well be announced at the show. Miyamoto has been more focused on the family-friendly Wii titles in recent times, with experts suggesting that the decision not to push him forward this year could herald a return to the more traditional Nintendo core games. “Not to put the great man down but this is a good omen for the hardcore Nintendo fan,” says Editor of NGamer , Nick Ellis.

We have been posting updates about the new EA Sports game 3-on-3 NHL Arcade. The game is sounding like it’s going to be a great one. I love hockey so I was very interested in finding out more about this title. While EA Sports has turned the NHL series into a solid franchise, and it’s always my personal NHL game to play each year, I liked the idea of having the option of playing an over-the-top NHL game. While Hockey fans may also like the idea, I wonder about the casual gamer and what they might want to know about the game. After all, while the Xbox Live Arcade has plenty of games to pick from, sports titles have been very limited. The ones that have been released were pretty flat. I was asked if I would be interested in sitting down with the Lead Producer of 3-on-3 NHL Arcade, Matt Maher. We had the chance for a short Q&A session over the phone.

As many of you know from Xbox Solution attending E3 this year it was a great show and Microsoft had a very impressive showing. General Gameplay
What is The Movies all about?
The game is very simple. An original idea by Peter Molyneux – you get to run your own Hollywood movie studio. The game can really be divided into 3 main areas – designing your movie studio, forging the careers of movie stars, and making movies. It is possible to focus on any of those areas that most appeal to you, and spend less time on the others. The game plays through from the birth of cinema to the present day and a little way into the future, with all the technology and historical advances that occur along that timeline. The really cool thing about the movie-making part is that the movies themselves can be watched, once they are made! It will be incredibly fun to make movies – something no other game has allowed you to do. Throw some actors into some costumes, put them on sets, pick some scenes for them to act out and watch them go. The end results can be fascinating and hilarious – it is possible once the movie is made to add your own voice and text and music, really personalising each movie you make. The movies can then be uploaded to a website for all to see!
