If you thought the first day records were impressive for COD: Modern Warfare 2 you would be correct. I got in the five day sales figures and it’s staggering with 550 million in sales. The record sales total is mind blowing throw in the fact 11 million achievements were earned in the game on Xbox Live in the same 5 day period and it shows just how popular the game is. The record broke suck Blockbuster openings as The Dark Knight, Harry Potter and Spiderman. COD: MW 2 also broke the old video game sales record of 316 million set by Grand Theft Auto IV.

Activision and Infinity Ward have several reasons to celebrate… 310 Million in fact. They just announced the first day sales records in the US and in the UK. A staggering 4.7 Million copies of the game sold in the first 24 hours for a total of 310 Million dollars in sales. Making it the biggest one day record of all time the sales figures are estimates but very impressive and the game is still selling. The sales figures are counting the midnight release events and first full day sales figures. The numbers are mind blowing and show how popular the franchise is.
