Can Someone Explain The Difference Between The Xbox 360 Elite And The Regular 360? Not The Core System.?
I’m a die hard Sony fan, so I never paid that much attention to the 360 specs when the systems were first coming out. I’m finally deciding to get one, since I love Halo and my laptop hates me because of it, but I don’t know which one is better. Can’t you upgrade 360’s later on? Thanks for all the help and sorry for sounding so Xbox hopeless.

The elite is black, has a 120 gig hard drive, the premium is white and only has a 20 gig hard drive. The major difference was that the elite had HDMI and the others did not. Now all 360’s are being shipped with an HDMI port so now the only advantage of the elite is the huge hard drive. I own an elite and I love it. Its much better for people who plan on downloading movies, trailers, demos and tons of arcade games. If you had the 20 gig the HD would fill up fast.
And to answer your question about upgrading, yes you can. IF you purchase the 20 gig you can buy the 120 gig HD later to replace your 20 gig but it will cost you 179 dollars. So you are pretty much better off buying the elite right away.
The Elite model is black, has a 120 GB hard drive as opposed to the smaller 20 GB hard drive that the premium model has, and it has an HDMI port, optimized for HDTV. Those are the only differences.
Premium Xbox 360 (regular) has:
Matte white + chrome exterior finish
20 GB detachable hard drive
2.4 GHz wireless controller
Ethernet cable
Xbox 360 Headset
Xbox Media Remote
HDMI (v1.2) Out Port
Component cables
Composite cables
TOSLINK output port
Stereo RCA cables
Xbox Live Silver
Month of Xbox LIVE Gold
Xbox 360 Elite has all of the above except:
Matte black + chrome exterior finish
120 GB detachable hard drive
and no Xbox Media Remote
But obvisouly the price different.
I would not own a x box if you gave me one. Bought 3 different ones and all were junk. Return all of then jacob
Their is only a few differences the elite is black and comes with a 120GB hd. The new premium 360 also has a hdmi port.
base of operation, NO there is no difference between the regular and the elite version. it all depends on how much your willing to spend. the elite comes with twice as much hard drive storage compared to the regular, and it also comes with some extra goodies that you wont have to go out and by later because you bought the elite version. no matter which console you buy, your still going to have to cough up the money for Xbox Live if you want to play online. that ain't cheap but it isn't ridiculous either.
Believe me, from my personal experience, the Xbox 360 gives you a better gaming experience than the PS3 could ever offer.
TIPS:
1. if your'e going to have your Xbox 360 in an entertainment center or shelf, consider buying an inexpensive device called an inter-cooler. it promises to extend the lifespan of your Xbox 360 by some year or so.
2. if you have an HDTV that you want to hook up your Xbox 360 to, I would recommend getting the elite, for it comes with an HDMI cord
(WARNING: TECHNICAL STUFF –> {High-Definition Multimedia Interface} gives you the best picture available, and as an extra feature: the HDMI cord allows devices to talk to each other in order to find the best possible resolution fit for the screen. other cables cant do that!)
3. remember!: "Wireless isn't always best" a corded controller is proven to last longer and is more durable than >some< wireless controllers (not all).
Plus batteries are expensive!
Once again it all comes down to how much you want to spend on your NEW Xbox 360.
i would personally choose the Elite: 1. its Black (cant bet that) 2. comes with other advanced but simple goodies for your hardware. 3. ITS BLACK!!!
so i hope the choice is clear you might as well spend the extra hundred dollars or so for a better console
They used to cost a lot more!!!
