What Is The Main Difference Between Xbox 360 And Playstation 3 Besides The Price And Which One Is Better?
I’ve got a HD TV now and I am thinking about getting myself either an Xbox 360 or the Playstation 3.Been playing Playstation 2 for years and love the controls, but it seems that the new Playstation 3 is much more expensive than the Xbox 360.Why is that and which one’s better?

well to put it simple the ps3 is a lot better once it reaches its full potental but that probobly wont happen till atleast a year and there are no games good games out for the ps3 yet even games out on the xbox wont be out on ps3 till atleast christmas, however ps3 has built in blue ray drive and bluebooth which the 360 doesnt. Xbox 360’s live feature is unbeatable if u want to go online n play with other people, watch movies, etc. no other system is as good as xbox. It also has many good games out such as gears of war, guitar hero 2, and dirt. basically if you want a gaming experience now get the 360 but if ur willing to stare at a game console for a year then get the ps3. I am a long time sony fan but i have to say the xbox wins hands down for now.
get a 360
hands down the 360 is better.
price cuts and all definatly 360.
I got a 360 and its great except it broke twice in 2 months but it was after one year, and microsoft said they would pay for all the expenses which is great except i prepaid my live but they give you one month free of live, which is great, but it is my summer and i can’t enjoy the 360, but oh well, i heard the ps3 is breaking down too but dunno. but i am always a 360 fan because the games r some what better, the 360 games are more for adults, like gears of war, lots of blood and shooting, halo eh, it has a gerat story and i saw the online play, seems really good, and end war of course is gonna be great, and than there is GTA 4 so a lot of good games coming out soon, but the 360 is only worth it if you get live, which i recommend, not too many kids on it, but if there are, its annoying, and you can tell they are kids because the microphone has the voice changer and there voice sounds all high like a girl lol, so 360
Well it depends on what u want, 360 has way better graphics and pretty good games and good online gaming, and ps3 has bluray and that its so i would say 360
They are the same price…$299. As for which one is better, you need to look at a few things.
1. Do you have any friends that play online? probably better off buying one that you can play with your friends. PSN is free, XBL is roughly $50 a year, sometimes cheaper when they offer a deal.
2. The 360 is backward compatible with most original xbox games, PS3 is currently only compatible with PS1 games, but may have a software update to allow for PS2 BC in the future…maybe. You can find a used 60GB model on ebay, and it will have full backward compatablility with PS1 and PS2. Although since you have a PS2, may not be a big deal.
3. PS3 hardware is more dependable, but the 360 warranty is better.
4. Both have great games.
5. PS3 has blu ray, 360 has DVD.
All that being said, I own both systems but find myself playing the PS3 95% of the time. I just like Sony's game library, features and blu ray more. Hope this helps.
get a ps3… my friend has both.. so iv played both a lot.. and the ps3 is waayyyyyyy better… trust me….
i like xbox 360 i have one its great good games and graphics the control is also very cool XBOX360 haha
The PS3 is more expensive because it has better hardware and plays Blu-Ray. Blu-Ray is supposed to be the next DVD but I doubt it. Even though the PS3 has more potential for better graphics, it still has yet to outshine the 360. I would personally go with the 360. The controller is much improved and handles better then the PS3 controller. Oh, and the PS3 controller has no rumble for some reason? Stupid to take it out.
Anyways, not only this, but the 360 also has much, much, much better games out right now. PS3 fanboys can deny it, but its true. PS3 has Motorstorm and Resistance: Fall of Man. All its other good games are also for the 360 and sometimes even the Wii. Oh, and guess what? They look AND run smoother on the 360. Funny, since the hardware isn’t as good.
Pretty much the only exclusive game franchises left for the PS3, that Microsoft hasn’t bought, is Metal Gear Solid and Final Fantasy. If you like an abundance of RPGs however, let me warn you that the 360 won’t have many. The kind of RPGs that they will have are more americanized ones. Like the Elderscrolls IV: Oblivion and Mass Effect. Which, I think is better then Final Fantasy. If you like sports, shooting, action, and racing games then the 360 has those flying out of its @$$. Not to mention it gets great music games like Guitar Hero and the upcoming Rock Band.
Right now, the 360 is the prime choice. More affordable with better games coming out right now AND in the future. The PS3 needs to get itself out of the grave its dug itself soon. Hopefully Metal Gear Solid 4 can change that. If it seems like I’m a little too positive about the 360, then there is one thing, they have a habbit of “breaking”. They heat up easy and the cheaply made motherboard gets fried. Fortunately, for you, there was a price drop of the 360 from $399 to $349. These new price dropped models (along with the black xbox 360 elite) sport better, cooler, chipsets. This means no more overheating for your 360. So no worries. The 360s are fixed and running fine. Now, go out and buy one!
360 for the win halo 3 (im not much of a fanboy but OH BOY i saw what halo three has in store for me) is going to be GREAT, plus 360 is great for playing games, ps3 is great for looking at games, horrible, and i mean horrible, for playing games, oh, and did I mention 360 is really good on the eyes too. Wii ain’t bad too, 360 is my fav, wii gameplay pwns.
pleasseee dont buy a 360 .. they r not worth the money at all …they break alott .. are outdated now by the ps3
the ps3 has the blu-ray player which alone is worth $1,000 and it has much better graphics that will show on your new tv
trust me u will me happier if u get the ps3 its worth the extra money
id get a ps3 hands down
the difference is that the 360 has more games but the ps3 has better graphics i actually want both but my 360 got the red ring of death and i have to buy a new one so if u get a 360 make sure u take care of it but i like it because of halo 3 and halo odst but the games on the ps3 have AWESOME graphics so i say 360 but thts just me i also like the ps3
ps3 is better hands down unless you care about prices…the only reason 360 could be better is that the videogames are a lot harder to make becasue of the new blue ray technology
PS3
Playstation 3 is much better there is difference in video card, hard drive, controllers.
@Mr.K
How can you say there are no good games on the PS3?
There are a ton of great games that are exclusive to the PS3. The uncharted series for one. I’m not really a fan of the PS3, but I am a collector of video games and as a collector, I tend to play every game I can get my hands on. Neither console is better than the other, but if I had to choose, I would certainly take my 360 over a PS3. Then again, I would take a Dreamcast over both of those systems. Personally, I would go with a 360. I would completely avoid the arcade version. and if you were going to get a PS3, I would try and find a PS2-chip having 60gig version.
Both systems have some great games (Gears of war , forza for the xbox * uncharted 2, killzone, little big planet , ratchet and clank for ps3).
Also some of the best/biggest games are usually on both platforms (eg call of duty , gta)
Media Solutions are also impressive on both platforms:
blu ray playback of movies is very very impressive – by far the highest quality you can get. Internet browser is a bonus so youtube works for example. BBC iplayer also works.
If you live in UK – Xbox now has sky player at £35 for sports in addition to xbox live subscription.
A year or two ago the Xbox was the one to get – now its the PS3. In a year or so , something new will be out thats probably better (all speculation).
Both now have netflix video streaming for US.
For a person that has both systems i find myself playing the 360 a lot more, because the gaming experience is way better, and for all those people saying the 360 breaks a lot all i gotta say is CHILD PLEASE!, I’ve had my xbox 360 for about a year now and it has never broken in the past. I have the elite so its much better, xbox live beats PSN and i heard PSN was going to start charging much like microsoft at the start of 2010 sooo get a 360, much more fun.
