Once Again Chase over at Access PR invited XBS to take part in another 2K Sports Developers Conference Call. This one was for NBA 2K10 Hitting stores on October 6th. This marks the tenth year for the franchise. The call was hosted by Erick Boenisch (Lead Feature Designer) and Rob Jones (Gameplay Director) and Chase was the Moderator. I also include a link to the whole call so you can listen to it later my recording program decided to quit on me half way through the call, Hey I have been away for awhile and forgot that I always should have a backup running. Live and learn I always say so what I am going to focus on is the main highlights and when you listen to the call feel free to send me your comments and/or questions please either use the forums and send me a PM pr Email them directly to me. This also goes for when the title drops on October 6th.

I want to also clear something up it’s no secret I work with EA as well and NBA Live also drops the same week. I have noticed a fan boy war this year and while not new I will say the same comments echoed by Stephen Marcus the fanboys on both sides have ruin the season. While this is a bold statement there is some truth to it. The games have not even released yet and each side is blasting the other in a way I have never seen before. Don’t get me wrong I love competition it pushes both 2K Sports and EA Sports to create a better game but fanboys can take it too far. I hope after reading this those who have been blasting either title will stop and take a break and wait for the full retail versions to hit.

2K Sports have always had a conference call to kick off their titles it gives a select few in the community a chance to hear from the developers about new features but also is useful for me to give our readers a fair look at the upcoming game. Both titles have made huge changes in the last 2 years. 2K Sports went into the 5 on 5 last year and while a great move it needed some work. The mode is back again this year but improved. In fact while the team is working in next year’s version already they read the comments and will patch things that need fix. During the call I found that the 2k Sports team welcomes comments and will use those to improve the game during the year.

New this year besides the special tenth year anniversary set which includes a sweet locker and figurine of Kobe Bryant. The game is a celebration of every year in the past and will include clips and special things that stood out over the past ten years. Fans will also find every day the title will have updates including special commentary a 24/7 mode but integrated into the game. The controls have been tweaked as well as the offense and defense plays and animations. This year the call was less of bragging how good it is and more about what gamers wanted and how the team has learned from past versions.
