Halo Wars Demo Now Available to XBL Gold Subscribers

The Halo Wars demo is now available to Xbox Live Gold Subscribers and will be available to Silver Subscribers after a week. We have reported on the demo previously, and cannot wait to test the first 2 campaign missions, the tutorials and the multiplayer map included (out of 14 that will come with the game).

Make sure you head on the Xbox Live Web Marketplace to download it! Keep in mind you will need an estimated 1GB of memory on your hard drive in order to download it.

Not a fan of RTS, but Jim swears by it so I may just have to check it out…I just don’t like all the complicated controls in RTS games.

It’s pretty simplified, Rough. Cool ass game, the cut scenes rock!

I’m definately getting the game, pre-ordered in November, but it is not all I thought it’d be. The one thing that bugs the most is the A.I., both mine and the enemy’s. I can’t believe that if you move a single unit and they are somehow surrounded by other friendly units, they just stop and ignore the move order. The Command & Conquer series at least had the other units move to make room for the unit you ordered to move.

Also, while playing skirmish in the hardest difficulty the A.I. just seemed to keep making units and sending them to their death at the chokepoint where I had all my units. The funny thing is, I had 2 other bases completely unguarded and it’s not like I was blocking the only way out of their base.

I hope it’s only because it’s the demo… the campaign missions also seemed kinda short.

There were other minor gripes I have that I have seem other RTS games make work in different ways, but I can overlook most of those. The story seems interesting, and the cutscenes are very well done, although I didn’t care much for the the guy that seems to be the main character… we’ll see how they develop the whole thing.
