I got an interesting Email about the launch of Gears of War 2 I wanted to share. Every year the Xbox 360 has led the industry with the best line up of games. This year with the release of Gears of War 2 it looks like the trend will continue. More than 20,000 retailers in 20 different countries will open their doors at 12:01 November 7th to meet the demand of gamers wanting to get their hand on the game. With special events planned at stores and special codes for weapons only available at the midnight release Epic games expects to sell more than the 5 million copies that the first gears of War soled.

Please check the Gears of War 2 official website for special locations for autograph signings and special guests. Also call your local game store to see if they are having any special events. The Limited Edition is packaged in a collectible Steel Book DVD case and includes a 48-page hardbound book titled “Beneath the Surface: An inside Look at ‘Gears of War 2,’” which is filled with character profiles and exclusive concept art. The Limited Edition also includes a bonus DVD containing the making-of documentary, a keepsake photo of Dominic and Maria Santiago, and a coveted Xbox LIVE token to unlock a gold-plated Lancer for online play.

The price of the Limited Edition is $69.99 and the regular edition is $59.99. In addition, all copies of the game come with an Xbox LIVE token to download the Flashback Map Pack for free. The Flashback Map Pack will be available immediately at launch and consists of five popular maps from the original “Gears of War,” including Canals, Gridlock, Mansion, Subway and Tyro Station. Each map has been specially updated with new graphics for “Gears of War 2.” Please note the gold Lancer token will only be handed out at the Midnight release events and while supplies last. It certainly looks like Gears of War 2 will be a huge kick off to the Holiday Season.
