Christmas Season Draws Near & Brings XBL Scams
For retailers it’s the 4th sales quarter and with the economy in its current situation there is a mad rush to gain sales. We all have seen the list of games being released and its going to be an expensive season. There is another season that begins this time of year the Scam Season. You turn on your Xbox 360 and see a text message from someone you know and trust. It say’s “Hey Halo 3 Special Armor is available visit this site and get a token but hurry” it sounds too good to be true because it is!
From free Microsoft points to free download from the marketplace the list of scams is large. It can also be dangerous for you. The scam artist finds a way to send a message so it looks like it’s coming from one of your friends. You visit the site and it looks legit complete with the enter windows ID and Password. Norton users will see the site blocked for protection. Most of the sites have the extension t35 in the URL. Just go by the rule if it sounds too good to be true it is. Microsoft doesn’t just decide to give away stuff at a secret site. This does not include the legit contests on Xbox.com.
