While I do believe that PS3 sales will increase due to the fact that it is the cheapest BluRay player on the market, I don’t feel it has anything to do with the gaming crowd. This will just mean that many people will have a PS3 in their homes to just watch movies and maybe play an occasional game.

I bought my Xbox 360 to play games, heck, I don’t even remember there being an HD format war.

If a gamer goes to buy a console, I am positive that they will choose whichever console fits their gaming style best. This just means that Sony, Nintendo, and Microsoft should really be compared on games sales and not console sales.

Noone bought an Xbox 360 to play HDDVDs because th HDDVD drive was an external peripheral, but some people may only buy a PS3 to play BluRay movies, I won’t deny that Sony was smart to make the PS3 with BluRay drives.

I agree with the article. Microsoft will have to keep a close eye on Nintendo, but more importantly Sony. I think the PS3 will prevail over both the Wii and the Xbox. The major contributing factor being that bluray won the dvd format war. Xbox is attempting to come out with a bluray attachment. Why not just buy the PS3 when it already includes a bluray player?

Do you guys think that the casual gamer stayed away from major consoles in the past because of being intimidated by most games? Now that the wii comes along and kind of dumb downs a lot of games and makes them easy and fun, it would seem that the casual gamers are embracing it. I compare those types to the ones at the local pizza/arcade who play skeet shoot and whack a mole over the more challenging games.

The Wal-Mart of consoles? I would not say that and I think a few are missing the point. It’s not about which console is better or the games. It’s more of the fact that the casual gamer is now a major player in the gaming industry just look at the Xbox Arcade. It’s a good thing and something if marketed right could really help bring out better games for everyone.

Of course the Wii will outsell the other consoles – it’s basically the Wal-Mart of consoles – built to appeal to non-gamers. But that doesn’t mean it should be taken seriously by gamers. I think most of us want a game experience that goes a bit beyond the sort of games that the Wii provides.

look cosats you don’t come beboppin in to a site trying to start a flame war, if you took the time to look before you started running your mouth, you would see a lot of wiis on ebay and Craig’s list in any given city at any given time. that tells me that not only is the wii a curiosity and fad to a lot of people who are enticed to buy a wii just to see what all the fuss is, but there are a lot of people after buying one, getting bored with it and just putting it back up for sale.

Rough it really doesn’t matter if they are on ebay or in a used shop the point is Wii’s are selling and still Nintendo can’t meet the demand. I know they need better games and more interesting things. I will say it should be interesting to see what happens.

I really don’t see how you came up with wiis that are returned when in reality wiis are hard to find and be bought even 1 year after they first came out. And it’s a pitty you’ve not played your wii for 3 months. So many great games came out these past months. Your arguments sound amateurish.

you know I kn ow its about the initial sales but they should consider how many wii’s are getting sold back to game stop, on EBAY and Craig’s list, then I bet those numbers dwindle a bit. A lot of people are buying the wii and getting really bored and selling them. I haven’t even looked at mine ( heh ) for 3 months now.
