We posted that Xbox Live would compensate Xbox live members for the trouble they experience the last few weeks connecting or staying on Xbox live. In a letter sent by Marc Whitten General Manager of Xbox live stated there would be a free Xbox live arcade game for both silver and gold members and it would be announced soon. The news hit Gamerscore Blog and Major Nelson’s blog that the arcade game would be Undertow and will be free to download from Wednesday starting at 2:00 AM PST – Sunday 11:59 PST. While the gesture is in good intentions it seems the many members that already have bought the game feel this was not the best way to handle the compensation. It’s no secret that Undertow was the most downloaded game during the Thanksgiving week and remained number one for several weeks after. While it seems the issues with Xbox Live have been fixed it seems many members were expecting to be able to download a game that has not been released yet. I see their point although the original letter never stated this. I wanted to pass on the news and also urge you to discuss this in our forums.
