After a great inaugural season the CGS sent word that the North American Schedule for the second season is already set. The CGS is starting to get recognized as the ultimate league for gamers to compete in a professional league. Last year more than 1 million dollars was awarded to the team that won the finals. I posted this already but just got word that there has been a time change in the Game with Fame Event today. If you wanted to play against Shawne Merriman and Patrick Willis the time is now 6:30 PM EST. You still need to register and send a friend request WillisGwF and MerrimanGwF both will be live from the site of Madden Bowl XIV. Stardock sent word that the PC game Sins of a Solar Empire is now gold. The new turn base game will be available at stores starting on February 4th and will have two packages. The regular version will cost $39.99 and the deluxe version which includes a soundtrack and poster will sell for $49.99. Those who wish to download the game direct may do so by visiting here.  

Chair Entertainment announced along with Orson Scott that they have will develop games based on the hit series Elder’s Game “Battle Room”. Their first game will be for downloadable platforms which could mean the PC or even the XBL arcade. While no date or info it was stated later this year and the agreement allows Chair Entertainment makers of the hit Undertow to develop on all next-gen consoles. Stay tune for more updates as soon as we get them.

It was announced that Ascaron’s Sacred 2: Fallen Angel will be published by cdv USA in North America for the PC and Xbox 360. The game is slated for release in time for the Holiday season 2008. The title was slated for an earlier date but now looks to be back on track. We will have more information closer to the release date.

I posted this a few weeks ago but for fans of wrestling that may have missed it I wanted to post it again. THQ is having a Global Challenge to promote their SmackDown vs. Raw 2008 game and the winner will receive two floor tickets to WrestleMania 24 in Orlando Florida. The two best North American will compete with finalists from the UK and Europe at the 6th annual THQ Superstar Challenge held at the House of Blues in Orlando on March 27th. Special guests will include WWE wrestlers and other stars to enter and for more information click here.

For those who need more tracks to rock out on in RockBand this week three new tracks are available for download at 160 Microsoft points each. The tracks include a cover version of Working Man originally made famous by Rush. Ten Speed (Of God’s Blood and Burial) another cover track originally made famous by Coheed and Cambria and Siva by Smashing Pumpkins.

While movies are not the main news around here this one has some history of the industry. The new DVD The King of Kong: A Fistful of Quarters was released today. The movie follows the story of the Donkey Kong Champ Billy Mitchell and the challenger Steve Wiebe on their quest to be the champion of the world. Billy Mitchell already holds the title of Gamer of the Century. The movie has received great reviews and my copy showed up today but I have not gotten a chance to watch it yet. I thought our members may want to check this out many may remember seeing Billy Mitchell at the Xbox Live Pac-Man tournament in New York City last year when they also announced the new Pac-Man CE arcade title. Both gamers are old school players who love to compete.

Sega set a release date for the Xbox 360 version of Universe at War: Earth Assault. While the PC version has been out for awhile the Xbox 360 version is going to be released in March. The game will offer players nonstop action in a strategic battle title. We will have more details closer to the release date.

We posted about this awhile back but at the time there was no release date given. It seems Ubisoft decided today was the day to release the new Co-Op Collection Pack on the Xbox live Marketplace for 800 Microsoft points. The new Co-Op pack features 5 brand new Co-Op missions and 9 new maps. It also gives gamers nine new achievements to earn for a total of 125 points.
