News broke today of one of the new features for the Xbox dashboard when it hits on December 4th. It seems with the popularity of sites like Facebook and MySpace people want to network and make new friends. The first new feature will allow others to see your friends list and network like the sites mentioned above. I am not sure if I like the fact people can look at my friends list or not. I do like the fact that you can control who sees the list. I know we live in a day where networking is big but do we really need this feature on Xbox Live? Personally I would rather have more room for friends or some other cool features. We will need to wait for Microsoft to announce those. Parents should know that by default those under the age of 13 will have their friends list blocked by default. Feel free to express your thoughts on this new feature is it a good idea or something we really don’t need?

Below is the information on how to set-up your options before the update hits. Log on here and select one of the three options available for your Gamertag:

  • Everyone (only available to members 18 and older)
  • Friends only (available to members 13 and older)
  • Blocked (available to all members, and automatic for anyone under the age of 13)
