Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare Xbox 360 Preview
Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare is the latest installment in the Call of Duty series, and its the third one to hit the Xbox 360. The first one, Call of Duty 2, was a launch game that received much critical acclaim. The next one was Call of Duty 3 which was released last year and was developed by another developer than the previous Call of Duty installments. It fared OK with review scores. Now we come to Call of Duty 4, developed by the same people that brought us Call of Duty 2. They have moved away from the World War 2 scene and they are now moving into modern warfare with a story involving Russian and Middle Eastern terrorists.
Call of Duty 4 is not only introducing a new setting, but it comes packed with new and advanced equipment and weapons too. Also making an appearance in this installment is that now players will have the chance not only to be a soldier on foot, but certain levels will have players manning gun ships, and flying fighter jets.
On the online side of things, as most of you know or don’t know Call of Duty 4 released a multi-player beta this summer so if you got into the beta then you will know what the multi-player will look like, if not we’ll tell you. Call of Duty 4 will feature up to 16 players online with over 8 game modes and a full featured class system. You will also be able to create your own class.
As you play, like in Rainbow Six: Vegas, you will gain experience points and be able to rank up, therefore getting better weapons and equipment. Call of Duty 4 also introduces the perks system, where by gaining experience points you’ll be able to equip your player with new perks, such as extended health, faster running, the ability to have your player automatically place a grenade beside him when he dies so he can take others with him, and so on.
What’s It All About?
Take on the world as both a U.S. Marine and a British S.A.S. Soldier in Call of Duty 4. You’ll travel across the globe, relying on your wits and weapons to launch all-out assaults and accomplish invisible missions of stealth. Day or night, be ready to do what must be done. It’s the most up-to-date collection of firepower, machinery and military vehicles in the Call of Duty series. Prepare to experience the sophisticated technology and unbelievable graphics of an incredibly realistic warfare experience.
Experience tomorrow’s war today in an immersive series of land and air strikes. Get the job done using the 70 new advanced weapons at your disposal. Make it to the next skirmish via choppers, jets and gunships before the battle is over. Final Thoughts
After the mediocrity of the last Call of Duty game, Call of Duty fans deserve an AAA title. Call of Duty 4 will deliver. With it’s breaking out of the WW2 scene and moving into modern times, something not many games on the 360 have done. It’s got all the makings of a great title. It’s got incredible graphics and an amazing frame rate running at 60fps. The single player campaign promises to provide variety, intensity and drama, and the multi-player will keep you coming back for months, trying to rank up your character. Call of duty looks great and plays even better!
