Activision announced that a series of compilations featuring music from the hit franchise will be available for purchase on iTunes. The tracks will be featured in iTunes Essentials for Guitar Hero, Guitar Hero II, Guitar Hero Encore: Rocks the 80s and Guitar Hero III: Legends of Rock.

Some of the songs included are Surrender, Welcome to the Jungle, Carry On Wayward Son and the newly recorded version of Anarchy in the U.K. by the Sex Pistols for Guitar Hero III. The series also features artists such as Aerosmith, Guns ‘N’ Roses, Rage Against the Machine, Metallica, the Rolling Stones, Jimi Hendrix and Pearl Jam. iTunes will also offer guitar-themed playlists from famous guitar legends.
