actually master chief does not die do it again watch all credits i saw him in the other half of the ship hes floating around talking to cortana then goes into hyper sleep!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

an u dont have 2 do it on normal heroic or legendary rich u can do it on easy if u wnt but i do it on heroic u shoot dead bodies they move lol!!!

Master Chief does not die! The only reason why 117 is scratched onto the memorial, is because they think he is dead. If you wait out the credits you get additional footage of Master Chief using a type Hyper Sleep thing ( sorta like Halo 1). After, he then tells Cortana to wake him up when he is needed.

Master CHief DOes not die yes they have a gravemind for him and yes his number is marked on it and yes they THINK hes dead but hes actually floating up in space with cortana and the Arbiter only made it because his half of the ship exploded and the Arbiters half made it back somehow. Currently, the master chief jumps into the cryo tube, and tells cortana, wake me when u need me….. And if u beat it on legendary, u see that his ship is flying towards some other planet and starts to ascend into it’s atmosphere. No doubt there will be another Halo or more games with MC’s adventures at least………..

Master Chief isnt technecly “dead” but there not making more halos. there making more that have to do with the war between coventet and humans but master cheif isnt in it niether are any of the other characters.

If you guys were really paying attention on the game after the credits ended there you would see Master Chief and Cortona floating in space in the piece that was left over and it would take them 3 years to get back to earth watch it remember they show the video after the credits

Master Chief is very much alive as is Cortana. The back 1/2 of the ship is drifting towards a planet. Which planet, no one knows. I’m thinking its the last Forerunner world. Not sure whether the Monitor said it or not, but if the Forerunners were forced to fire the rings (which they did), they had a planet in SlipSpace to retreat to for protection. Since the ship was going into Slip-Space when it severed, it makes sense that is the last Forerunner world.

Secondly, yes, Hood thinks the Master Chief is dead. That is why the Arbiter says “Were it so easy…” and looks to the sky.
That was the clue for people that haven’t or can’t finish it on Legendary difficulty.

so basically halo 4 will come out in bout 3 years, i think that master cheif should like meet his ancestors when he went through the portal thingy, and somehow a war should still be going on in the other world and master cheif should have to go through a new halo thingy to get back and save them, what the hell happend with all the brutes, did they all die or what

Yes I agree people, My 9 yr old son came home and told me about the after credit movie. We beat it watched all the credits..ahhhhhh excruciating but then yas a clip comes up where there is a piece of the ship floating in space. Cordana tells MC that she has the rescue beacon on but it may be weeks months or years before they are found. MC says”wake me when you need me” and goes into his SA chamber. Believe it or not MC lives at the end of the game. beat it watch all the credits and you will see or don’t I don’t care just thought I’d let you know the truth

all the people out there that are complaining about the master chief dying are STUPID. watch the whole ending video and all of the credits and after that it will show the master chief talking to cortana on the ship that he escaped the halo ring on then he goes in a pod like the one in the beggining of the first halo game and says wake me when you need me. the master chief lives!

the ending with the planet or ship could be one of 2 things onyics or wats left or reach the game will not be called halo anymore tho because bungie said it themselfs halo is over and they would keep on pointing that out so its going to be called something else they are trying to fool/surprise us fans which is cool/gay lol

Master Chief dies in the explosion in the end of Halo 3. And if you don’t believe me, finish the game. there is an explosion and in the movie at the end it says 117 on top of a grave stone or something.

I might be wrong I don’t really know if he did die but it seemed like it. And if he didn’t, there are still brutes and maybe a few flood still living so yeah mabey Master Chief (John) really didn’t die.

The Chief is not dead!! If you watch after the credits, you see him and Cortana survived and the Chief goes into cryo and they are drifting onto a planet. My guess it is Onyx (Planet were the other Spartans are currently located, it said so in the books)

WOW i cant believe were even having a conversation on this topic. Anyone who has beaten the game on Legendary knows that The Chief DID NOT DIE….he is simply stuck on one half of a ship. He had cortana place him in cryo freeze…he even says “Wake me up when I’m needed again”

Master chief does not die. If you beat the game on legendary difficulty and watch the cut scene after the credits you will see what happened. When Arbiter and Master Chief jumped into the ship in the last level Arbiter went to the cock-pit while Master Chief was forced to stay in the cargo hold. The ark then gets destroyed and we fade into the cut scene which shows 117 scratched out on the pelican.

After the credits you see Master Chief floating around in the ship and he asks Cortana what happened. She tells him that when the ship was going through the portal it closed early and only half of the ship made it through…the front half. It shows the ship cut in half and floating in space.

Cortana then says that she will deploy a beacon but she said it will take years for them to be found. Master Chief then goes into a cryogenic tube and the last exchange between Cortana and Master Chief is:

Cortana: “I’ll Miss You”

Master Chief: “Wake Me…When You Need Me”

After that cut scene it shows the ship floating towards an unknown planet. That is the ending of Halo 3. Master Chief does not die

Clearly most people don’t have the common sense to take a minute and read. The video after the cedits when you complete halo3 on legendary gives proof that hes alive in a formof chronic freezing untill they wake him when needed. Then taking 1 minute to read what people have put instead of scrolling to the bottom and stating your very poor an very undeveloped opinion. If you had any patence at all you would read the opinions of othrs and watch all the endings in hope that your ignorant mind will learn something. If you took the extra 4 minutes time to watch the ending instead of listening to your mother (whos house you still live in) and going to bed, you would know that Master-Cheif Spartan 117 is still alive and you would not have to flood Forums an reveiws with your crap.

Also, I would like to state that this article was intended to make all you lazy people get up and play the game and then form your opinion wether or not there will be a halo 4. because this article is at the bottom of a long page (or atleast was when this reply written) you probably have some patence and are not the crowd this was targeted at.

One last thing, I am not sure and do not know if this is from an offial source, but many people say the halo movie has been canceled for one of theese reasons.
1. To create halo 4.
2. The director of the “lord of the rings” movies was supposed to direct the movie but he
is awiting payment for one of the “LOTR” movies and will not direct it.
This i am leaving you to choose witch is correct.

I did write the article to promote some posts and wanted people to stop guessing and just play the game. I am amazed that there is still gamers posting on this but I never did it for hype. As far as the movie rumors change from site to site no official word has been posted that I know of saying canned. I hope they are able to work it out and make a good movie from the story we will see.

He doesn’t die. i called my friend and he told me so. so i did the game on legendary. The portal closed early and he was left in space in half a ship. Cortana sends a distress beacon but she says i could take years so he goes into a cyrogenic tube. It shows the half of the ship floating to a unknown planet which i think will be the setting for halo 4 if there is 1

master chief does not die if u played halo 1 in the beginning he comes out of the tube thing and in halo 3 he goes into it. there is no halo 4 because its the halo trilogy but i wish there would be a halo 4!!too bad master chief does not go to the front but that would not be a amazing ending.

At the end, master chief is still on the ship with Cortana. The ship is actually cut in half. Cortana explains that the warp-portal closed to early, so it transported half the ship only. Cortana sets up a beacon, and says it will take a years to find them. Then I will write the quote the converstion with Cortana and Chief just after Cortana sets up the beacon:

Cortana: I’ll miss you…

Master Chief: (Getting into cyro-pod) Wake me up when you need me.
