If he does it will be something like this well i think this is how it would go down, look he will be injured real in a state of dying and he is on the ground and miranda keys come over and pics up his head and takes off his helmet and he says his last words, but yeh that is what I think will happen.

Why would they kill off Master Chief? Hes a big hit on Microsoft and killing him off would take a hit on Microsoft. The way I see it, halo 4 will take place a year after 3 and master chief comes back and everybody though he was dead and came to find out there is another big problem.

If you read the news story again you will notice I never say John does in Halo 3.
My comments and headline came from the fact rumors hit the internet saying that the ending is the death of Master Chief. I wanted to get gamers interested and play the game to find out. Thanks I just want to make this clear since some may have missed that important part.

He does die, although u don’t see it, i finished the game the night it came out on heroic (nerdy i know).

It has a remarkable resemblance to the last mission of the original halo, u assume he gets killed by halo’s explosion, sry for all those who accidentally read but didn’t want the surprise ruined.

In the end u see a memorial to all those who died in the war, vs covenant and flood. The memorial has all theses pictures on in (including miranda keyes and seargent johnson, On the memorial at the very end of the final film u can see 117 scratched onto it. (spartan 117-master chief)

Silly idea but i would love to see it happen.
End of game is ambigious cant tell if he dies or not. Then Halo web site goes into 48 hour countdown end of which….
Master chief live or die you decide.This is where it’s really unrealistic.

They must fight the ( is it Mombasa ridge ) area we see in the halo 3 website, the one you can pan around, against 200 AI baddies or gamers who dont like halo would be funnier.

Just got done with the campaign and Master Chief does die. Lord Hood says to the Arbitor, “Thank you for standing by his side until the end.” And the number 117 is etched into the memorial that is left for those who have been lost. And yes, that was the worst grammar I have ever read in my entire life and I teach for a living so I have seem some poor grammar. Go Bugie!

Just kidding. If you let the game play on there is a video at the end that shows Master Chief and Cortana floating aimlessly in space, which begs the question, “How does the Arbitor get off the ship.” Since he and Master Chief leave the Halo together. I smell a double cross.

i bought halo 3 today and within 6 hours i have finished it…….dont get me wrong it a brill game….the graphics anr fab….and the game its self is well made….and the master chief lives on for another day…i hope there is going to be another halo but about a diferent war type thingy lol…….well ill just like to say a big congrates to microsoft and bungie for a well made game……..KEEP UP THE GOOD WORK

Umm I just beat Halo 3 and the ending wasnt very good … but in the ending credits it shows a graveyard/monument thing to the important people in the covenant war and it has pictures of everyone who died on it … 117 is marked on their without a picture, so yes master chief does die … it was sad actually lol

so i just finished the game, and he does die, which is pretty fucking bogus, it seems like he is going to survive in the final cut scene, but only the arbiter gets out of the wrecked spaceship and while the arbiter is cool, master chief was the fucking bomb. im a little cut he died, but overall the story line was fucking brilliant.

IF YOU DO NOT WANT TO SPOIL THE ENDING THEN DO NOT READ MASTER CHIEF DIES AT THE END AND THEY HAVE A GRAVE FOR HIM AND JOHNSON AND THE ONE GIRL!

He dies. Just finished the last chapter. They make a memorial to the fallen soldiers, Miranda Keyes and Sergeant Johnson, and that Hodd guy turns to The Arbiter and says something like “Thank you for fighting alongside of him. I still can’t believe he’s dead.” and the camera pans to the memorial which has “117″ scratched on it. Doesn’t take a genius to tell you what that means.

After beating the game we find out the master chief and the arbiter come out alive, but halo is exploding. thus on the epic ending race to safety as in Halo 1, we find that in the last cutscene that only the arbiter is left……. Master chief is still out their with cortana…. Halo 4 IMO???

He does die in the ending, but it doesn’t show his final moments… and you never get to see who is under the helmet. Arbiter pays his final respects and him and the elites head to their home world.

He dies, i was incredibly mad, the ending leaves much to be desired, im replaying on harder difficulty now to see if its diff ending, but it shows his pic on a memorial and the arbiter and commander remembering him, but the arbiter does have an interesting comment when the commander says “i cant believe he is gone”, Arbiter looks back at memorial and says “if it were only that easy”……draw your own conclusions, and get ready for Halo4 i guess

I think John 117 will indeed comeback. Since there are no more Flood, he will rape the living shit out of the Mars Phobos base, and proceed to kill the Icon of Sin; The Rock didn’t do a very good job at it to begin with. Thus, Halo and Doom merge to form Doom/Halo. Officially the coolest game, ever.

Wuz definitely worth waiting for. I ordered my xbox elite just to play halo 3. As for the ending – you could say, Master Chief just gets a bit chilled out

ive just finished the game and he does die so does jhonson and Qutana the only surivours are who is ever let on earth the lord and the arbater it a real said ending and to be honest a bit dispointing end to a epic game they should of played this one out a bit longer with more twists ever disapointed
