I swear it must be the day for all demo news around here. Just a quick heads up from EA Sports the NBA Live 08 Demo is expected to hit soon. While a bit cryptic the email sounded like the demo is almost ready or may already be in Que. In the meant time check out NBALIVE08.com for the latest news, videos and other cool things.
If you are wondering what to do during this long weekend there are several new demos on the marketplace. EA Sports sent word over that NHL 08 is now on the marketplace. I downloaded and it looks good for you die-hard hockey fans go check it out right now. For other sports fans check it out its free and you may like what you see.
I know, I know this game has had a ton of changes regarding a release date. Sierra sent over word the TimeShift demo is now live on the marketplace and the early word is this one rocks. While we still don’t have a confirmed release date TimeShift has caught my interest. So download it and give it a try.
News from Microsoft today, the most downloaded content pack is now going to be free. Starting Monday September 3rd gamers can download the Hidden Fonts Map Pack for free and find more reason to head stomp others. So if you wanted to download the pack and thought it was a bit expensive grab your copy of Gears of War and download it Monday.
As we discussed on our last podcast, Madden 08 is out and fans have been outspoken about this year’s version. I have always enjoyed the Madden franchise even though I do miss the competition of the 2K brand. I enjoy talking about Madden but never liked the term “Armchair quarterback”. Madden players know what they like and will brag when its there. Then again when something is not right, they will complain just as loud. GameStop started the fuel this year earlier when they were trying to get pre-sales by saying order the last Madden ever. We all know this is untrue and the Madden franchise is not going anywhere. EA has continued to show quality changes in their games this year. Well, the pre-game talk is over now on with the full review and my overall thoughts of Madden NFL 08.
Lots of people out there think of the Xbox 360 as a shooter console. The truth is there are many shooters on the console, but it does have a plethora of other games available. When I first read about Bioshock over a year ago, I really thought it fell into that category of just another shooter. But it did present a totally different sort of style and atmosphere, being set in the underwater city of Rapture. Andrew Ryan, a man fed up with the bureaucracy of the governments of the United States, Soviet Union, and the Vatican decided to build this utopia as a place for science, industry, and the arts to blossom without the restrictions of the previously mentioned establishments. So Rapture was built under the seas to give these forward thinkers a haven to practice their arts. It was Nirvana, but something went terribly wrong.
Halo 3, say it to the right gamer and they start to drool just at the thought of playing it. Well, today Microsoft announced the game has gone gold which is great news for the 1 Million + gamers that pre-ordered the title already. The street date is set for September 25th. Halo 3 is set to shatter the day one record and I am pretty sure shatter is the correct word. You still have time to place a pre-order and get in on the online Co-Op mode and general fragging but summer is almost over so hurry up already!
You heard the comments about Medal of Honor Airborne and now that the game hits stores on Septmeber 4th Xbox 360 owners can also compete for some sweet swag. The online leaderboards will be up for the first 4 days and then wiped clean for the big contest starting on the 7th-9th. A personal favorite of mine is hitting XBL Arcade this Wednesday. The Capcom classic Super Puzzle Fighter II Turbo Remix version is enhanced for Xbox 360 HD graphics. It should offer fans of the series and those who enjoy puzzle games with plenty of action and cool visuals. Game modes include offline battle and online battle play it should be a great one to download. The classic Capcom title hits XBL Arcade and this is the first time the classic game makes its appearance on the Xbox 360. The game will cost 800 points.
