2K Sports, the sports publishing label of Take-Two Interactive Software, Inc. today announced that The BIGS, the over-the-top MLB title with heroically portrayed players and plays that defy physics, will feature a line-up of big name rock bands to complement the video game’s super-sized gameplay. Every artist featured in the all-star cast provides a guitar-heavy tune, including Jane’s Addiction, Stone Temple Pilots, Rollins Band and White Zombie.

Electronic Arts Inc. announced today that the blockbuster Need for Speed franchise is introducing a new version that drives the series in a new direction. Need for Speed ProStreet is a ground-breaking Need for Speed experience where you’re thrust to compete head to head against the best street racers in a multitude of racing showdowns. The game is being developed by EA Black Box in Vancouver, B.C., and is slated to ship this fall.

The call has come again. Activision, Inc. is calling players back to the trenches with the release of new Call of Duty 3 multiplayer maps, available only on Xbox 360 and Xbox Live from Microsoft. The Bravo Map Pack features classic maps and new battlefields for players to test their skill. The five new maps are currently available for purchase (800 Microsoft Points) on Xbox Live Marketplace for Xbox 360 from Microsoft.

Blue Orb, Inc. announced a new accessory product for players of Phantasy Star Universe that allows them to type text messages directly from their game controller. The new Phantasy Star Universe Special Edition Texter is a Phantasy Star Universe-themed version of the Texter game messaging product from Blue Orb for use with the Xbox 360 video game and entertainment system from Microsoft and PlayStation 2 computer entertainment system. Under license from SEGA of America, Inc., the Special Edition Texter is designed specifically for Phantasy Star Universe gamers.

As Codemasters’ highly anticipated racing game DiRT speeds towards retailers next month, the company today announced a pre-order program for fans of the series. Beginning today through DiRT’s June launch, consumers who pre-order the game at retailers nationwide, including Amazon.com, BestBuy.com, GameStop/EB and GameCrazy, will receive an exclusive access code that unlocks 10 cars in the game, as well as grants access to exclusive videos of off-road racing star Travis Pastana.

Starting today, humans, elves, dwarves and trolls can join the cross-platform revolution with Shadowrun at the estimated retail price of $59.99 (U.S.) for Xbox 360 and $49.99 (U.S.) for Windows Vista. Shadowrun is rated M for Mature by the Entertainment Software Ratings Board (ESRB). Shadowrun is also part of the Games for Windows initiative, offering reliability, compatibility and enhanced experiences on Windows Vista.
