PS3 Will Not Have Market Impact of PS2 due to Xbox 360 Early Lead
A report released by Research and Markets earlier today indicates that the PlayStation 3 will not have as much of an impact on the market as its predacessor did, partly due to the Xbox 360’s jump on the market.
We didn’t download the full report, mainly because it costs $1300.00 USD, but here’s one quote from the description:
We expect the Sony PlayStation 3 to perform very well in in the long term, having the largest install base by 2010. The console is not expected to dominate as much as its predecessor, the PS2, due to late launch issues in the PAL region and the early lead of Microsofts Xbox 360.
I expect a lot of this also has to do with the high price point of the PS3, although not many people in the industry are ready to say that in a report. If you have a bunch of cash burning a hole in your pocket, you can download the report at the link above, or go buy a PS3.

ps3 is a beast and it will kill xbox360.just whatch how it kills it,the games that came in launch with the ps3 just used 20% of the ps3’s power and it still looks better than xbox360….the funy thing is that xbox360 used 85% or more alredy !!!Haaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa!!!
Its a slow start but the PS3 will soon take off (1 year) after Wii-mania dies down and the effect of the game wears off. I find myself not playing it as much and the novelty is wearing off. I’m looking for some high def games and the 3 is where it will be. The 360 is cool but most of the games wore off to me and GOW and PGR as well as COD3 were cool but short. The online is cool for the tetris and puzzle games as well as poker but a Halo is needed soon. Another cool game was Gun but that needed some better graphics…The PS3 so far has kept me interested.
