The time for battle is fast approaching. To whet your appetite, Eidos is releasing the official Battlestations Midway Xbox 360 multi-player demo on January 18th on Xbox Live Marketplace.

The multi-player demo will feature the Island of Solomon multi-player map where players will face-off between American and Japanese forces as they engage in massive air, sea, and undersea battles. Get first hand experience of this new action/strategy game set against a seascape teeming with aircraft carriers, fighter, torpedo, and dive bombing squadrons, naval destroyers, battleships, submarines and more!

The battle objective? Be the first to destroy the enemy’s naval base, air base and/or aircraft carrier. The last key unit standing will be the victor in this war.

Battlestations: Midway brings to life the epic naval battles of the World War II Pacific Theater from Pearl Harbor to the Battle of Midway. Featuring an innovative blend of real-time strategy and action gameplay, players can instantly switch between every vehicle on the map, playing as a pilot, then a gunner, then a submarine captain throughout the course of the battle. The game also features multiple authentically designed warships from the USS Yorktown to Japan’s super battleship, the IJN Yamato. Players can command over 50 vehicles and over 100 vehicles can face off in any one battle.

The single player mode features 11 large-scale campaigns with 12 bonus challenge missions, while the online multiplayer combat offers an entirely new online battle experience with head-to-head and co-operative style gameplay accommodating  eight players with up to four on each side. Battlestations: Midway is a wholly new and significant addition to the Xbox LiveR online game service community that delivers an exciting online gaming experience for the collaborative gamer.

The Xbox 360 Multi-Player Demo is available for download on the Xbox Live Marketplace on Thursday, January 18th at 02:00 PST!

Battlestations: Midway will be available January 30th in North America for the Xbox 360 and PC.
