Ubisoft, one of the world’s largest video game publishers, announced that Enchanted Arms has shipped exclusively for the Xbox 360 video game and entertainment system from Microsoft, and will be available on store shelves this week. Enchanted Arms was created by development studio FromSoftware in Japan and is the first true next-generation Japanese role-playing game (RPG). The adventure takes place in a fantasy world filled with beautiful cinematic graphics and vibrant characters. It includes over 50 hours of gameplay and is the only Xbox 360 RPG with the fast-action SpeedTactics Battle System, which enables the player to move their characters and use distance-dependent attacks while in battle.

Microsoft released the public beta of XNA Game Studio Express, the pioneering technology designed to open up game development to new audiences, including hobbyists, students and independent developers, in the hopes of injecting a shot of creativity into the electronic entertainment industry. Novice game creators can download the tool today from http://msdn.microsoft.com/xna to develop games for Windows XP and Windows Vista, at no charge. The games built on Windows can be migrated to the Xbox 360 console system starting this holiday season as part of the XNA Creators Club subscription for $99 a year, or a four-month trial cost of $49, opening up retail console game development to anyone for the first time.

Konami Digital Entertainment, Inc. today announced that BOMBERMAN: Act Zero has shipped to retail stores for the Xbox 360 video game and entertainment system from Microsoft. Players are challenged to survive through 99 stages as they try to escape an experimental underground facility and destroy their opponents to fight for survival in a terrifying industrial future. Midway Games Inc., a leading interactive entertainment industry publisher and developer, today announced that it has teamed with GameSpot, a leading source for trusted gaming content and community (http://www.gamespot.com/), to bring fans “The Ultimate Mortal Kombat Fanatic” contest, a competition which allows fans to create unique and creative short films showcasing why they are the biggest Mortal Kombat fan. GameSpot will serve as the contest’s host site and will feature the user-generated films throughout the duration of the competition. GameSpot staff will judge the entries and one grand prize winner will receive a trip to San Francisco, CA, and the chance to challenge Ed Boon himself at Mortal Kombat: Armageddon at the GameSpot offices in San Francisco. The contest is scheduled to begin on Monday, September 18th, and run through Friday, October, 6th.
