Glu Mobile, a leading creator and global publisher of mobile entertainment, announced that “Marc Ecko’s Getting Up” for mobile was named best wireless game at Spike TV Video Game Awards 2005. “Marc Ecko’s Getting Up” is an action-adventure game based on the highly anticipated console title born from collaboration between ecko unltd. and Atari, Inc.

Winners were announced on November 18, 2005 during the 3rd annual Spike TV Video Game Awards 2005 ceremony held at the Gibson Amphitheatre in Los Angeles. Hosted by Samuel L. Jackson, the two-hour “game vs. game” extravaganza will premiere on Spike TV Saturday, December 10 (9:00-11:00 PM, ET/PT).

“We are thrilled that ‘Getting Up’ won the viewer’s choice award for Best Wireless Game for 2005,” said Robert Nashak, chief creative officer, Glu Mobile. “This award from Spike TV is a testament to Glu’s passion for creating original, quality games that resonate with gamers and are truly fun to play, and to Marc Ecko’s dedication to bringing this rich narrative to life.”

“Marc Ecko’s Getting Up” puts mobile gamers in the shoes of Trane, a talented graffiti artist and headstrong New Radius citizen striving for freedom of expression in a city where free speech has been outlawed by a corrupt government. As he develops his graffiti skills, Trane must inspire a revolution through his artwork, ultimately transforming the world around him from a colorless, urban sprawl into a fresh and vibrant city.

“With ‘Marc Ecko’s Getting Up’ for mobile, Glu has outdone itself once again,” said Wim Stocks, EVP of sales and marketing for Atari, Inc. “Glu has proven its ability to capture a title’s original vision while delivering a unique and compelling mobile entertainment experience.”

Presented by Spike TV, the Video Game Awards pay tribute to the outstanding achievements of games, designers, animation, breakthrough technology, music and performances of the past year in the world of video games. The awards also provide a glimpse at the future of gaming, including exclusive sneak peeks and world premiere footage of some of the hottest and most anticipated games of 2006 and beyond.
