Kids Enter the 3rd Annual CyberChase Contest

CYBERCHASE Invites Mystery-Loving, Puzzle-Solving Kids Everywhere to Enter the Third Annual CYBERCHASE ONLINE CONTEST, September 26 Through October 31

CYBERCHASE Mystery Week on PBS KIDS GO! Brings Five New Episodes, to Air During Monthlong Chance to Win Two Laptop Computers from Intel and Exciting CYBERCHASE Products from Flying Minds.

It’s time once again for kids across the country to hone their sleuthing skills for the third annual CYBERCHASE ONLINE CONTEST! Thanks to the generosity of Intel Corporation, one Grand Prize winner will receive two Intel® Centrino Mobile Technology-based notebook computers – one for the winner and one for the winner’s school or community group – as well as fun CYBERCHASE products donated by Flying Minds, the online store for “Cool Stuff For Clever Kids.” Intel is a corporate sponsor of CYBERCHASE, the popular math-mystery cartoon series seen weekdays on PBS KIDS GO! (check local listings).

In addition to the Grand Prize winner, 10 First Prize winners will receive a CYBERCHASE backpack from Flying Minds with cool prizes inside, and a whopping 350 Second Prize winners will receive the CYBERCHASE magazine and other prizes.

“CYBERCHASE gets children excited about math and teaches problem-solving skills, a mission that Intel embraces through its education program,” said Brenda Musilli, Intel director of education. “We are delighted to support CYBERCHASE by providing computers for children and their communities.”

The contest runs from September 26 to October 31, and winners will be selected from across the country. Web visitors will also be treated to games and sneak previews of CYBERCHASE Mystery Week, October 3-7, when five new episodes will premiere on PBS KIDS GO! The new shows include the cyber-villain Hacker having a change of “art,” the Motherboard’s memory gone missing, and Digit and the kids caught in a “Crinkle in Time.” Featured are some of CYBERCHASE’s most popular recurring characters, such as the skateboarding teen-borg Slider, Tikkiville’s favorite princess Creech, and Wicked, the wonderfully wily witch who’s up to no good.

“CYBERCHASE is delighted that Intel has continued as a sponsor of the series and this contest,” said executive producer Kristin Laskas Martin. “We are united in our belief in the power of technology and media to enhance kids’ learning experience.” Executive producer Sandra Sheppard added, “This year’s contest presents kids with a mystery to solve, just like the CyberSquad faces in every episode of CYBERCHASE. We’re also thrilled to offer kids for the first time a chance to win exclusive new CYBERCHASE products from Flying Minds.”

Since its premiere in 2002, CYBERCHASE has used humor, action and mystery to show kids that math is fun and that everyone can be good at it. The award-winning series for kids ages 7 to 11 features a team of curious characters who outwit and outsmart the ultimate bad guy, Hacker (Christopher Lloyd), as he tries to conquer Cyberspace.

CYBERCHASE is produced by Thirteen/WNET New York and Nelvana Limited in association with Flying Minds. Executive producers are Sandra Sheppard, director of children’s and educational programming at Thirteen, and Kristin Laskas Martin, executive producer of the award-winning Magic School Bus.

Major funding for CYBERCHASE is provided by the National Science Foundation, PBS and the Corporation for Public Broadcasting. Additional funding is provided by The Intel Foundation and The Volckhausen Family. Corporate funding is provided by Intel Corporation.
