Ubisoft, one of the world’s largest video game publishers, today officially revealed the line-up for the UK arm of Frag Dolls.

Frag Dolls UK is a girl gamer group launched to prove that boys aren’t the only ones capable of holding a controller.  They’ll carry the torch for “girls that game” – discussing experiences via their blogs and forums, participating in online gaming sessions and appearing at live events.

Originally launched in 2004 by Ubisoft San Francisco, the US Frag Dolls have become well known names in the gaming world, providing a focal point for females in a male dominated pastime, and attracting more people into gaming.

After receiving over 200 applications from girl gamers wanting to join Frag Dolls UK , five girls were selected from across the UK to form the final group.

The girls will be known by their gamertags below:

  • “Jam” from Staffordshire
  • “Kitt” from Glasgow
  • “Lucky” from Doncaster
  • “Sarin” from Dublin
  • “Voodoo” from Exeter

Each of the Frag Dolls is an accomplished gamer and between them the girls cover a wide range of gaming skills and interests, from the super-competitive FPS player to the Sing Star addict.

“In the US , the Frag Dolls team have broken down lazy preconceptions and reminded everyone that girls really can game,” said Phil Smith , UK community manager at Ubisoft. “The overwhelming response to our UK recruitment call has allowed us to put together a fantastic team of uniquely passionate and enthusiastic gamers who’ll be taking on the same mission this side of the water – but with a uniquely English twist.”

You can find out more about the Frag Dolls on their official UK website http://www.fragdolls.co.uk .  Look out for profiles of each Frag Doll as well as blog updates, chat forums, an online gaming schedule and a diary of future events the group will be attending.
