There are three different levels of gameplay available. Free Ride, freestyle,
and of course the racing level. Since your best bet is to start with the free
ride to get used to controlling your bike, I’ll start there.
FREE RIDE LEVELS:
This is where your going to hone your riding abilities through a multitude
of challenges and trick tutorials that when completed will give you money
and allow you access through invitations to freestyle events. There are four different free ride areas, starting at Travis Pastranas house
and compound. In each area there are many challenges and five hidden tricks,
and believe me, each time you progress these challenges and tricks get harder
respectively. What is great about the free rides, is even the novice can just
ride around and have fun, because there are no rules or time limit. However,
in order to progress to other free ride areas you have to complete a certain
number of challenges. Some of these challenges are very difficult, like riding
a wheelie 500 ft., or jumping long distances, as you progress to different
areas these distances become greater.Once you acquire enough points you gain access to the Freestyle Events in
which you have to perform well in order to gain access to the next Free Ride
area. Eventually, you’ll reach your goal of competing in the X Games, but
your going to need mad skills to get there. This brings us to our next level.
FREESTYLE LEVELS:
The Freestyle Levels are all about the tricks. As with the Free Ride areas
there are also four Freestyle competitions. You start by jumping through a
certain number of hoops in a set amount of time, this was one of my favorite
events. After completing this you can go on to the next event, which is a
scripted trick list, you are can do them in any order. If you complete these
tricks within the time limit then the tricks are yours, and so is the next
event, the competition. In the Competition round you’ll get three runs around the arena and score
points by doing tricks. If you can manage to finish 3rd or better then you
will be allowed access to the next Free Ride area. However, there is one more
optional event in Freestyle. It’s an even harder scripted trick list but this
time you have to do them in a certain order, on the correct ramps and in an
allotted amount of time. This event has to be completed successfully to gain
access to all of the tricks available.
RACING LEVEL:
When you feel your ready to start a career in the racing circuit then start
off by entering a race in either Motocross or Supercross, personally I like
to start with Supercross. There are six races in each venue, which you must
complete successfully to advance to the next stage of your career.I suggest practicing your racing skills in the Exhibition mode to get a
feel of the tracks and jumps. You’ll start out racing in the 125cc series,
which is not very hard once you’ve learned how to ride. After your first race
if you do well then not only does the cash start building up, the team and
sponsorship offers do as well. As you progress, so do your bikes.Finish the 125cc series and move up to the 250’s, now it’s starting to get
tougher. The better you finish and the more tricks you can pull off, the better
the sponsors and of course the more money you make. You have to buy your own
gear but you do get paid for wearing your sponsors stuff in a race. Once you
beat the 250cc series then it’s on to the Masters class. Now you’re racing with the big dogs, let’s just hope you made the right choices
in teams so your bike can hang with these guys. The better you finish during
the course of your career the better the bikes are going to be, so choose
wisely. You’re not gonna want to be showing off and doing tricks in the Masters class,
it’s all business. Believe me if you mess around these boys will take you
out. At this point your bike will be going faster and faster so this class
is tough to beat.
So, do you have what it takes to become the ultimate MX athlete? Grab your
helmet and hang on; if you have the skills and the courage, you are in for one
hell of a ride.

All I have to say about playing this game online is that you better not forget
to bring your skills. There are some freakishly great racers out there, I thought
I was good and I hooked up with the elite and got smoked. If I finished 2nd
or 3rd I was happy.
There are some young guys on live and some newbies so you can always find a
competitive race.
Also, there are plenty of freestyle games to play so that makes it more interesting.
So live play is awesome; just watch out for the ringers.

If you are anything like me, gameplay means alot more than graphics, but I
was well pleased with the graphics of this game. At 60 frames per second they
are really good for the most part. They could have been better but I wouldn’t
want to lose any playability for them.

I’m not a huge heavy metal fan but the charged up tracks on this game are perfect
for racing.
A big plus is that you can customize your own soundtrack, so I mostly listened
to Jimi Hendrix, Kid Rock, The Black Crows and some of my other favorites while
I played.
The general sound of the bikes, commentators and even the real voices of people
in the Free Ride section are great.

This is one of the best parts, since your choosing to accept or decline certain
team and sponsor deals, there are several different paths your career can take
you. I have over 30 profiles myself, just by going through and choosing different
paths you can change the overall performance of your bikes.
Also you’re not going to just want a Yamaha, you’ll want a Suzuki, a Kawasaki
and a Puma. Not to mention the custom bikes of the red and orange teams. Different
bikes perform better on different tracks, not to mention some are faster than
others.
So the replay value of this game is incredible, I mean there are 115 tricks
to master, and BTW, I have mastered them all. I’ve played this game to death,
but I still like to get on it and do back flips, 360 body varials and barrell
rolls, the tricks are amazingly realistic and fun. Also, I’ll jump online and
race occasionally just to stay sharp or show off my mad trick skills.

I know it sounded like a ten but I hold the tens pretty sacred. This is a great
game overall.
One thing I really like about this game is that you don’t have to be good at
it to enjoy it. My eight year old loves it, but I can’t bring myself to let
him win in multiplayer. Is that wrong?
