Java MMORPG gains 50,000 subscribers to the members game in 2 months

13th January, Cambridge, UK. Jagex, the developer and operator of the 3D Java
online adventure game RuneScape today announces that on Tuesday 4th January
RuneScape passed the 200,000 member mark for the first time. Jagex puts this
growth down to the regular content updates that the game receives.

‘By releasing new content updates every week there is always new fun and challenging
things to do in RuneScape.’ says Managing Director, Constant Tedder. ‘These
updates are free to all members so they get incredible value for their $5 a
month. The recent release of the excellent ‘Castle Wars’ update created a tremendous
buzz and this is helping to encourage more and more freeplayers (there are over
2million) to subscribe to the members version.’

RuneScape is a browser based adventure game that can be played for free unlimited
at www.runescape.com. Players can subscribe to the members version at any point
for $5/month to gain access to a whole host of benefits including a map that
is three times as big, over twice as many quests, whole new skills and priority
customer support.
