New Spyro ‘Tail’ revealed
VU Games have today announced a brand new title in the long-running Spyro the Dragon series of bubblegum-fun platformers, in the shape of Spyro: A Hero’s Tail, for the PS2, Xbox and GameCube. The game is (unsurprisingly) scheduled for release this Christmas, and is being developed by British studio Eurocom, whilst award winning writer J. Stewart Burns handles the script.
Not content with just giving us a friendly dragon to play with however, VU Games are promising a total of five new characters in what they’re dubbing Spyro’s ‘biggest’ adventure to date, also new moves including ‘Spyro breath’ are also on the agenda.
The plot is a melange of the usual platformer bizarreness, incorporating an evil Red Dragon hell-bent on taking over the Dragon Realm who must be stopped by collecting ‘Dark Gems’. Or something!
“Since his debut in 1998, our purple dragon Spyro has been a favorite character among console gamers everywhere,” enthused the publisher’s Michael Pole. “Spyro fans are sure to welcome his greatest adventure to date – an adventure game that immerses players into a deep storyline, more diverse, lush environments and introduces a strong line-up of engaging characters.”
Here’s something official:
The fierce purple dragon will travel across dark, mysterious lands in which the environments shift from evil to good in real-time – affecting enemies, music, lighting, objects, sky and more.
Outfitted with mighty new abilities including the Wall Kick, Tail Swing and Ledge Grab, Spyro will fight his enemies with powered-up breath attacks – burning opponents with Flame Breath, deep-freezing rivals with Freeze Breath, obstructing adversaries with Water Breath and destroying mechanical enemies with Electric Breath.
In addition to playing as the heroic leader Spyro, gamers will also have the opportunity to play as weapons master Hunter the Cheetah, dive-bombing penguin Sgt. Byrd, loyal sidekick Sparx the Dragonfly or the all-new weapons-equipped, climbing Blink the Mole. Thanks to Ferrago for the heads up on the title.
Sounds like fun right?! Do not fear, more on this title as we get it, in the meantime, discuss this article in our Forums
