Splinter Cell: Pandora Tomorrow Temporary Xbox Exclusive
According to a report at 1up.com, The Xbox version of Splinter Cell Pandora Tomorrow is well ahead of the PlayStation 2 and GameCube versions, according to the preliminary release calendar of Ubi Soft’s recently-released quarterly report.
The PC, Xbox, and Game Boy Advance versions of the latest Splinter Cell adventure are listed for worldwide release in the January-March 2004 quarter, but not the GameCube or PS2 versions. Ubisoft’s financial outlook for the fiscal year ending in March also cites “the postponement of the PlayStation 2 and GameCube versions of [Pandora Tomorrow]” as the reason for a deduction from the current fiscal year’s projected income.
All five versions were originally scheduled for release in March, but it looks as if that has changed. Ubisoft representatives confirmed that Microsoft has secured a timed exclusive for the game, which will see the Xbox version released a few months before the other console versions. A similar deal saw the original Splinter Cell released first on Microsoft’s Xbox console.
Ubi Soft’s plans to make an official announcement soon, pinpointing the new release dates for the PS2 and GameCube versions.
