i have the elite, i’m trying to watch hd movies, but the console is only reading. what do you suggest? oh yeah, the system & the movies are new.
@neko: The Elite does not have an HD-DVD drive, you need to buy it separately. It will only play regular DVD movies.

can you play xbox 360 games on the arcade version on the 360?
i mean can you play xbox 360 games on the xbox 360 arcade console
Jaime,
Yes but you need the 512 memory card or buy a hard drive the arcade console does not come with the hard drive.
If i buy a 360 game in france will it work on my 360 in england?
Pretty sure they both use PAL as the format, however, due to localization it may only be in French… or whatever native language is spoken at the place of sale.
ive got 2 xbox wireless controlers one of them works but when i turn the other on the lights in the middle all jus flash and it just wont work what can i do ??
@Ben,
You need to turn off the one that works turn on the one that is flashing hit the biton to sunc ten hit the sync buttton on the 360.
Once it is synced you won’t have this issue.
Can you transfer memory from one hardrive to another?
my controlers keep disconecting what do i do and ive already changed the batteries
@ Red,
Check that your battery pack is not in need of replacement. Also check that it is synced and nothing is nearby running on the same frequency. My guess it is sounds like a bad battery pack. Hope this helps?
my reception is 800kb is thad good enough for xbox live?
@Brandon,
What is you upload speed type of madem DSL or Cable and where did you test this? Your speed is a bit low but you should be alright but if your on a DSL line it could be a hassle. Let me know what you have and your set-up. Thanks

Answer: Brandon, Like in my previous comment, i have dial up. i finnaly was able to connect with dial up. in halo 3, i run a 4 bar connection, which is almost maxed. and im running only 49kb a second. so you will definatly be fine with 800kb. good luck, see you online (gamertag: Dementous)
@Dementous,
You are joking right? No way are you connecting with a dial up modem to XBL.
i do not know my original windows live id, but i want to change it to an existing gamertag?
how can i change it without knowing the original one
@mick,
You can’t do it without that information.
my xbox 360 arcade is plugged in but when you search the channels to install it. it wont find the console. any help?
@jenno
Make cure the cable or the HDMI cable is connected right. If you have it connected make sure the cable or cables are not the problem. If you are still having trouble you can look over on Xbox.com for details on setting one up or call Xbox support 1-800-4MY-XBOX.
Sounds more like a loose connection though.
I’m playing call of duty world at war co-op play everytime we stop playing I lose my progress the game is set on auto save to hard drive don’t get it hope someone can help
Can I play standard xbox games on my xbox 360?
@Karen,
You can play the old Xbox games but there are a few that you can’t. If they made it for both the Xbox and the Xbox 360 you won’t be able to play the old version. I think Xbox.com has a full list of all the back cap games that work.
What is the problem and is there a fix for when a game freezes up on you? My son is into the basketball and football games. Thanks for your time.
@Kelly,
Game freezes can happen for several reasons. If the Xbox 360 is in a place that is enclosed it can freeze up. It can also be a bad game save file. You may want to make sure it is laying flat and has plenty of room so the vents and fan can work correctly.
when i’m downloading something from xbox live using the my xbox experence is it normal that when i try to play a game the download cuts out
thanks for the comment
@James,
Yes it will always stopp the download when you play a game. Then start again hope this helps.
The thing that spins the CD in my CD drive on the original xbox will not come up, is there anyway to fix this?
@Austin,
You mean the tray won’t open? It may need fixed or cleaned at times dirt can get in and cause the tray not to open. Most electronic shops can look at it but get an estimate due to the fact most places are selling the old Xbox for around 50.00. Hope it can be fixed with just a good cleaning.
im trying to connect to xbox live with high speed wireless,from cricket and when it gets to the DNS at the test connection screen it fails any help?
I currently have my 360 connected to Xbox Live through my laptop, which is picking up a wireless signal. I was able to download the new dashboard, create an avatar/gamertag, all that, but the only game I’ve been able to play online is Halo 3. all my other games say they require an update, and the update never downloads. also, I can’t browse anything the game or video marketplace. From what I’ve read, I’m assuming I need to set my NAT to “open”. However, I’ve spent the past three days trying out just about everything I’ve found online to do this, with no luck. I have Verizon DSL with a VersaLink 327W. I tried the walkthrough on port forwarding on portforward.com , but the screenshots they have for the VersaLink don’t look anything like what I have when I type in my IP online. If anyone is familiar with Verizon DSL or can pick up on what I might be missing, please help! Thank you!
@Alex,
Call Verizon support and tell them you need an open NAT connection. They may need to come out. It sounds that may be the issue most of the games reguire a update to work once the NXE is installed we all had to go through this. I do find it odd it downloaded that since it larger and most title updates are very small.
If you find that your NAT is open or they open it it may be a case of needing the right ports open. If you are a member of the forums you can ask me there and I can post the ports you need open. You may want to check that the router and modem is on the list at Xbox.com this may be an issue as well?
I would first go to the last blade and check your connection if the NAt is moderate or closed get that to open first then get the ports open so you have no issues. DSL is a bit differnt than a cable speed good luck and you can always post for help in the forums.
i bought my xbox 360 2 days ago brand new from argos and it came with a hardrive and it had a account stored onto it called x ammonto x it had 1200 gamerscore and it was not mine any explanation??
im trying to play ANY of my games on xbox 360, and it just says unplayable disk, how do i fix it?
@carlys,
Sounds like an issue I had you need to call Xbox support and send it in for repair. It’s probably is the disc drive.
while playing my mercenaries2 game it will shut down and flash two of the four lights on front with red. Nothing will make it stop unless i unplug the system? Whats up?
@Dylan.
It’s not that your playing Mercenaries 2. Your experienceing a RROD or Red Ring of Death. It’s a system malfunction that microsoft has no clue how to fix or what causes it. Call Microsoft customer support and request a replacement Xbox 360 Console. They will give you information on how to ship or mail your 360 to Microsoft. They will send you a brand new Xbox 360 Console for free. Hope this helped. Keep playing.
My xbox live wont let me join any games with just one of my friends in ..all my other friends i am able to join in there games …. the friend i cant join only lives down the road from me and was wondering if that could be the problem ??
@Ospice,
Check both of your NAT settings sounds like one maybe set to strict. Try reboot and then re test the connection.
can you use an xbox s controller in an xbox 360 . what you need
@MG,
No you can’t use the old Xbox controller sorry.
do you need the xbox live card if you have the wireless network adapter???
I’m not sure I get the question… If you have a wireless network then you need to have the wireless adapter for the Xbox 360 (assuming you want it wireless). The Xbox Live card seems a bit unrelated, unless you mean do you need to have a Gold membership to play online, which in most cases, you do.
another question, does the intercooler really suck out energy of the Xbox.
one last question, sorry im new to the Xbox world, but how can you avoid getting to RRoD cause i dont wanna get that the first day i play my Xbox, and if you do get it how can you get rid of it, can you just let it cool off since im getting the Elite…or has that nothing to do with it.
i have just been givein a xbox a black one i think its an old one can i play xbox 360 games on it please help thank you
@dave
The intercooler isn’t bad but I find that the pelican version works better and quieter, as for the RROD..you need to make sure that your 360 has lots of room to breath, if you are laying it down you need to give it at least 6 inches of clearance on top, do the same if you have it standing up. Mine is laying down and I placed about 4 game cases underneath it to elevate the bottom off the surface, Its no gurantee though, I am on my 6th 360 and I know others who are on their 9th and 10th.
Do they still make the pelican one?
