Spike TV, America’s network for men, is available in 86 million homes and is
a division of MTV Networks. On December 4th, 2003 they aired for the first time
the Spike TV Video Game Awards. After video games resurfaced with next generation
consoles and became such a big hit, it was likely that an award ceremony would
be produced to reward the people that make us sit by our TV sets for hours at
a time.

During the show and pre-show celebrities were everywhere, between some of these
were: David Spade, DMX, Jaime Pressly, Lil Kim, Orlando Jones, Pamela Anderson,
Ray Liotta, P.O.D., Tony Hawk, and many others. If you were not able to watch
the award ceremony be sure to go Spike TV’s web site for highlights, videos,
and pictures of the event.

As most people know, the show aired at 9 PM EST. But the most important question
is not when did it happened, is WHO won. And the winners were (drumroll please)…

  • Best Sports Game: Tony Hawk’s Underground – Activision
  • Best Action Game: True Crime: Streets of LA – Activision

Many people were surprised of some of the results, but most (if not all) of
the decisions were at least partly based on a public poll Spike TV had up on
their website for some time. Thanks to all our forum
users that helped us keep up to speed with the ceremony. Come join our discussion
