Infogrames Entertainment SA (IESA} has announced a change to Atari as the brand name for all of its global commercial operations.

The move is effective immediately. U.S.-based operations will be known as Atari, Inc. and trade on the NASDAQ National Market under the ticker symbol ATAR.

While IESA will keep its name and Euronext tracking code (5257), all other worldwide operations will adopt the Atari name, with the country of origin included; the example given was “Atari U.K.” Infogrames Interactive, Inc. will become Atari Interactive, Inc.

“In any language, Atari is synonymous with video games and it’s recognized for transforming entertainment,” said Bruno Bonnell, chairman and CEO of IESA and Atari.
