Thinking about upgrading to a projection HDTV? Well, site members, Gronar did last week! And what does every Xbox owner with a HDTV need? You said it, the Xbox High Defintion AV Pack!

Without this little baby, your still hooking up a standard definition (low resolution) signal to your HDTV, and that is not what you bought one for!

This set of connectors replaces the ones that came with your Xbox, the AV inputs you hook up to your TV or VCR. Instead of the 3 cables you have at the end of your standard AV cables, this one has a box with your component outputs on it. These include the Y, Cb/Pb, and Cr/Pr video outputs. My only complaint is the cables are a little short, so I had to rethink where my Xbox goes with my audio video equipment. Also on it are a right and left sound output (if you are like me, and still don’t have a DTS sound system) to hook to your stereo, and an optical output for digital surround sound systems.

You then get a set of cables that you run from this box into your HDTV. Is it worth the extra $20? I’ll tell you what! You have never seen Halo like this before! As soon as you fire up your Xbox through these cables, you can go into the settings for your Xbox on the dashboard, head over to video, and select between resolutions of 480p, 720p, and 1080i! Now, not all games output in these HD resolutions yet, but future Xbox games are going to implement this feature. Dragon’s Lair 3D is going to be the first game out that supports full 1080i resolution.

Even with the games I have now, that are not HD, it makes an incredible difference! As I mentioned before, Halo is absolutely stunning! The picture is so crisp and clear you swear the Flood has infested your living room! And PGR is like your driving a real friggin’ car! That is, on a 61 inch widescreen, of course! So if you have a HDTV, and have not picked this item up yet, Gronar says “go out and pick one up, and see what you have been missing!
