Star Wars: Jedi Starfighter
After several try’s at creating a good Star Wars game using the Episode 1 license,
Lucas Arts is at it again but now they have started using the new Episode 2 license
where they hope to bring some better games.
There
really isn’t much of an upgrade in terms of graphics from special edition to Jedi
Starfighter. Once again I was disappointed on how Jedi Starfighter didn’t use
even close to all of the Xbox’s capabilities. I felt as though they really didn’t
try to go for anything different. I do admit it works fine for the game, but not
near as good as it could. The ships them selves are also not as impressive as
they could be. I really feel that they could be much more detailed then they were.
The actual area’s them selves did look pretty good. The structures throughout
the levels were pretty good, as well as the water.
Like
the previous Star Wars game for the XBOX, Star Wars Jedi Starfighter takes you
on missions that are not seen throughout the movie. Throughout the game you
play as Jedi Master Adi Gallia an accomplished Jedi who you shall go through
numerous missions. If you have played Star Wars Star Fighter Special Edition
then you will notice right away that Jedi Starfighter is very similar to Special
Edition. You will go throughout several missions that really become repetitive.
This being said, if you enjoyed Star Wars Special Edition, then you will really
like Jedi Starfighter. I felt that the gameplay was right about where Special
Edition was, which was a little disappointing. I was hoping for something new,
to mix some things up. I also felt that the objectives seemed to be quite repetitive
as well. A few of these missions seemed rather familiar from Special Edition.
One aspect of Jedi Starfighter that I did enjoy was the multiplayer modes. You
can play in a co-op mode where you and a friend can spend a day flying your
way through the single player mode. Although I did have fun just fighting with
my friends, the co-op mode was where I felt Jedi Starfighter was at it’s best.
If
you have played Star Wars Special Edition then you will have no problem getting
into Jedi Starfighter. If you have yet to play Special Edition, there still
is not much of a learning curve.
I felt
that the sound when both ways. There was some good, and there was also some bad.
I felt that the voice acting was excellent. To me the key to most games sound
is voice acting, and in Jedi Starfighter I think they did an excellent job with
it. On the downside I felt that the sound effects were not as impressive.

If you can withstand the whole Single Player mode then you should be proud of
yourself, because it just seems like your doing the same thing over and over
again, and the games loses it’s fun very quickly. I found that the game lasted
much longer playing it in the co-op mode but even then it loses it’s fun very
quickly.
