Outlaw Golf
When you think of golf what do you think of? First thing that comes to my mind
is Tiger Woods, but after that I think of how proper everything is in golf. Well
finally the tides have changed and the green is sloping to a new form of golf
and that’s Outlaw Golf, an extremely different outlook of the game of golf.
Outlaw
Golf is a beautiful looking golf game. The characters are very well drawn out,
however not anything ground braking either. Outlaw Golf really looks like what
a golf game should look like. It has excellent looking fairways, greens, water,
and just an all out three great looking courses. I figure though if you only have
three courses then they better look good.
When
I first heard about Outlaw Golf, I couldn’t have been more excited. I hopped for
something that is similar to a Hot Shots Golf with more innovative features. Outlaw
Golf has several game modes including: Stroke Play, Match Play, Best Ball, Skins
and much more. With all these gameplay modes, it’s extremely disappointing to
only be able to play on three different golf courses. These golf courses are very
different from each other, but a few more courses would have been nice. You can
choose from ten different golfers and there caddies to play through these courses.
Each golfer with there own personality, which is what makes Outlaw Golf work.
Outlaw Golf surprised me with a few things that I was anticipating for the
game. The first is the level of difficulty. When you start playing bad, the
controls start getting much more touchy and therefore it is easier to hook or
slice your back in the bad stuff. I felt that this was a great addition to Outlaw
Golf, it gave it more a little more of a realistic feal to it that I think was
needed.
If you have heard anything about Outlaw Golf, I am sure the first thing that
comes to mind is, when do I get to fight? Well at the start of whatever mode
your playing your given a beating token, which allows you any time to press
the Y button before any shot and go try to beat up your caddy. This will raise
your composure and make your next few shots a little easier. Although this sounds
like great fun, and believe me the first few times it is. It just really gets
old after a while, after you have watched it three or four times, it looses
it’s spice.
If
you have ever played Tiger Woods for the Playstation 2, then you will be ready
to go right away, if not then be prepared to struggle on the links the first
few times out. To hit the ball you must pull the right analog stick back while
the a power bar fills, and when it reaches what ever percent you want to hit
the ball at you have to push the analog stick forward. Now if you move the analog
stick a little left or a little right, your ball will hook or slice in that
direction.
Outlaw
Golf I think does the best job with commentary out of any sports game as of
late. The commentary goes right along with the way the characters. The commentary
is very up beat and it throws in a few good jokes along the way. Although the
characters don’t talk much during the game, they do throw in there own in sight
of how they did on the hole they just completed. There really wasn’t much of
a soundtrack on Outlaw Golf. You will here a little pop, or hard rock throughout
the game, but there really isn’t a soundtrack. I believe that it would have
helped Outlaw Golf run a little more smooth.
I felt as though Outlaw Golf really lost it’s flare with me, after a couple
hours. The tournament modes were extremely difficult, and long. So you really
have to have some patience in order to complete a whole round of golf. The only
reason Outlaw Golf has any replay value is due the multiplayer modes. There
is nothing like sitting back and playing Outlaw Golf with a friend, it makes
the game so much better.

You know as dissapointed I was with Outlaw Golf, I found that after
a while I saw the good in it. There is a huge replay value that could keep you
coming back for more.
