Time Splitters was first released on PS2, made by the same
developers (Radical Design) that did GoldenEye. Many people thought it would
be just as good as GoldenEye. While not as good, it was still a decent First
Person Shooter. Radical Design hopes to improve on that this time with the
upcoming TimeSplitters 2.

Time Splitters 2 (will be referred to as TS2 starting now) is literally about
people that go back in time. Aliens from the present have gone back in time
to cause trouble, and it is your job to stop them. Levels will range from the
Old West, to the Cold War , to the future. The features in TS2 are very good.
There is a full storyline with narration and cut scenes (few and far between
in the first one). After beating the game by yourself, try it with a friend
in co-operation mode.

They reworked the game engine to allow bigger levels and more detailed characters
(thanks to the Xbox’s capabilities). After beating the game alone or in co-op,
you can try deathmatch with friends. Grown tired of playing the same multiplier
levels over and over again? Just make your own level with the mapmaker mode.
No online capabilities as of yet, but the deathmatch mode should keep you busy
for a while.

Graphics wise TS2 should deliver an almost Halo-worthy look. The game will run
at 60 frames per second. With the reworked game engine as stated above, TS2
should look and run smooth. There is an advanced particle system in place so
when your in Siberia the snow will float to the ground realisticly. A touched
up sniper mode, blurring effects, sparks, flickering flame, and bullet holes
ad to the realism.
The outlook for TS2 looks very bright. With what looks to be great graphics,
a great story line, and good multiplier options, Time Splitters 2 should improve
on last time’s adequate try. Look for this one in September of this year.

Here are the official Features:
* TimeSplitters 2 offers a more involving single player and co-operative
story mode
, featuring a complex narrative with multiple objective-based
episodes and superbly animated cut-scenes.
* The game engine has been extensively upgraded to accommodate bigger,
better backgrounds and special graphical effects while still providing the distinctive
smooth fast paced action of the original.
* Over 70 characters – a completely rewritten animation system incorporating
inverse kinematics brings even more lifelike movement and dynamism to a new
collection of ‘loveable rogue’ characters. Character models will have significantly
increased poly-count and there will be smooth facial animation in cut-scenes.
* The multiplayer mayhem of the original will be back but TimeSplitters
2 further extends the possibilities with I-Link support allowing multiple consoles
to be linked together. This is in addition to the dynamic 4-player split-screen
mode that made the original TimeSplitters so fun to play.
* Weapons – all of the weapons in TS2 are either entirely new, or significant
upgrades of the TS1 arsenal. Weapon effects, balance and animation arte all
receiving significant attention.
* TimeSplitters 2 will retain the unique MapMaker in an enhanced form,
which opens up even more potential for user customized game scenarios.
