Earlier this evening, Eidos Interactive officially announced that along with developing the previously announced PlayStation 2 version that the company is developing versions of TimeSplitters 2 for Xbox and GameCube. TimeSplitters 2 is being developed by Free Radical Design by members of the development team behind the N64 classic, Golden Eye, and is set to ship this fall. . .

“We are extremely excited to announce that TimeSplitters 2 will be released on all the next generation gaming consoles,” said Mike McGarvey, CEO of Eidos Interactive. “Xbox and GameCube owners will welcome the opportunity to experience the stunning graphics and amazing gameplay that TimeSplitters 2 has to offer. “At Free Radical, we are passionate about console gaming,” said David Doak, Managing Director of Free-Radical Design. “It’s only natural that TimeSplitters 2 will be appearing on all three next generation consoles.”


When released this fall, TimeSplitters 2 will both expand and build on the original by featuring many of the same features both single and multiplayer features. One of the more popular returning features is the MapMaker. Unlike its predecessor, TimeSplitters 2 will give players the ability to customize game scenarios. Multiplayer features present in TimeSplitters are built upon in TimeSplitters 2 by allowing multiple consoles to be linked together. Furthermore, TimeSplitters 2 showcases an entirely new game engine, complex narrative missions, a new animation system that allows for more dynamic movements and larger backgrounds than the previous installment.
